About

A sustainable business focuses on a triple bottom line philosophy, commonly referred to as people, planet and profits.

This philosophy ties the environmental and social impact of an organization’s activities to its economic performance. It involves a commitment to meeting higher standards of transparency, accountability, and performance.
Donna Baker Church

I'm an experienced writer and editor drawn to issues about sustainability, natural health, social justice, community involvement, and much more.

A freelancer since 2000, I’ve authored articles, editorials, book reviews, and edited magazine content and non-fiction on sustainable living topics.  With a background in finance and administration, I have extensive experience - both virtual and on-site, from small mom-and-pop operations to large employers - with business reports, contracts, manuals, financial statements, proposals, marketing collateral, strategic plans. You name it, I’ve worked on it.

I have a passion for words and an eagle eye for accuracy. I strive to make conscious choices about the way I live and work. Reduce, reuse, and recycle are central to my lexicon of mindful living. So are tolerance, respect, and compassion.

I believe each of us can contribute to a sustainable culture. My goal is to assist clients in communicating the ways they are making an impact in this effort.

From proofreading a final draft to seeing a project through from scratch, I bring knowledge, integrity and insight to every project.

Sustainability is meeting the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

I Walk the Talk

Mindful Writing is committed to being part of the solution for environmental, social, and economic justice. I adopt principles, policies and practices that improve the quality of life for my customers, my community, and the planet.

Here are ways I contribute to a sustainable culture:

  • Purchase products with a lower environmental impact, i.e. vegetable-based ink and recycled content paper.

  • Reduce paper usage by conducting the majority of my business electronically.

  • Reuse and recycle paper that is consumed.

  • Reduce carbon emissions and use of non-renewable energy by working from a home office.

  • Reduce energy consumption by using low energy light bulbs; turning off office equipment when not in use.

  • Reduce and recycle as much waste material as possible.
